      Summary: Use the service responsibly. Your data stays on your device. We provide tools - you're responsible for how you use them.
    

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Avent Horizon Vault ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Avent Horizon Vault is a client-side cryptographic application that provides:

Cryptographic hashing (SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512)
AES-GCM encryption and decryption
Merkle tree proof generation and verification
Local vault storage using IndexedDB

All operations are performed locally in your browser. We do not provide data storage services.

3. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Password Management: Keeping your encryption passwords secure. Lost passwords cannot be recovered.
Data Backup: Maintaining backups of important data. Browser data can be lost.
Legal Compliance: Using the Service in compliance with applicable laws.
Appropriate Use: Not using the Service for illegal activities.

4. No Recovery Services

Because all data is stored locally and encrypted with your passwords:

We cannot recover lost passwords
We cannot access your encrypted data
We cannot restore deleted vault items
We cannot recover data if your browser storage is cleared

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Avent Horizon and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

The application is open source under the MIT License. You may view, fork, and contribute to the code on GitHub.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

Merchantability
Fitness for a particular purpose
Non-infringement
Security or error-free operation

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

Loss of data
Loss of profits
Loss of goodwill
Business interruption

8. Cryptographic Disclaimer

While we implement industry-standard cryptographic practices:

No encryption system is 100% secure
Cryptographic standards may change over time
We recommend following security best practices
Use strong, unique passwords for encryption

9. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

10. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. By continuing to use the Service after changes become effective, you agree to the revised terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
